Hospital

The word "hospital" comes from a long line of words starting with the latin word, "hopses" which is lating for guest, host or stranger. It eventually evolved into "hospitalia" which is an apartment for guest. [1]
After going thru a few more changes that include the medieval latin "hospitale" and the old frenc "hospital" it eventually found its way to england where it meant a home for the elderly or infirms.
Today, the modern definition of a hospital according to Encyclopedia Britannicais, "Institution for diagnosing and treating the sick or injured, housing them during treatment, examining patients, and managing childbirth."
Today, hospitals also serve as institution to teach and educate the public about health issues and prevention.
