A Congestive Heart Failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to maintain adequate blood circulation to the body.

classification
- Class 1: ordinary physical activities doesn’t cause symptoms
- Class 2 ordinary physical activities cause fatigue, papl., dyspnea or angina, but asymptomatic at rest.
- Class 3: less than ordinary physical activities cause symptoms ( see above) , but asymptomatic at rest.
- Class 4: Unable to perform any physical activity without symptoms and symptoms may be present when at rest.
causes
Possible causes & what you will see
- ↑BP, diabetes,CAD, valvular disease
- LFT-sided-↑HR, SOB, ↓O2, pale, cool & tingling in extremities,pulmanary edema & frothy pink sputum
- R-sided: edema in the lower extremities
- Both fatigue, anxiety, weakness, SOB, LOC, juglar vein distention, ↑CV, Women: Nausea
Immediate intervention
- high flowers
- √ & give O2
- Notify physician
Assessment
- VS , HR & LS
- O2
- Edema
Stabilizing & monitoring
- Monitor I&O, wt
- Restrict fluids
- obtain order →Place IV( Gage 18)
- VS & O2
- ECG
Labs
- Chem 7 , CXR, BUN, Creatinine,Tripionin, ABGs
