A glucometer is a device for measuring blood sugar levels. They are usually portable and used when determining the level of insulin coverage.

Nursing considerations
To ensure proper blood sugar monitoring, glucometer test strips should be kept out of direct light and humidity and stored according to manufacturer recommendations.[1]
